Day 25: Doh!

On a slightly different note Day 23 was full of excitement, carnage and a quick trip to A&E after me and the bike went for a skate on some asphalt after work. Rather silly really...

Fortunately the moustache was undamaged. Though I am wondering if our flat isn't cursed what with last weeks visit to hospital by someone who stuck a chain ring in their leg.

Perhaps we're living on top of an old Maori burial ground, a shrine of some ancient civilisation or some other vortex of bad Karma and dodgy Fung Shui. Whatever it is I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it with the right Mo of stubble and a cool hat...

Day 18: More Mos

Well the Mo growing is sprouting away with all the vigour of a Hawkes Bay hydroponic garden. I thought I'd share with you all today some of the other guys efforts at growing a cookie duster.

First we have Joerg and his Bavarian master piece (below);

Wunderbar...

And then of course we have Steve, who I'm told has been trimmed back from his original Merv Hughes look.

Day 16 - The Polynesian Connection?

Things are going well but I'm starting to wonder what, or who, I look like. Maybe I should relocate to Mangere East?

Apologies to David Fane. It just kind of happened...

Day 13: Lookin Mo-tastic

As the half way mark approaches the Mo is starting to really kick in. (Yes it is kind of a dorky photo).
Watch out Tom Selleck!

Day 9: Godley Head

Friday evening saw me loitering on Godley Head above Lyttleton Harbour, near the old WWII guns emplacements cunningly positioned to stop U-Boats from sneaking into Lyttleton harbour and sinking Russian fishing boats.

Perhaps in another time, with another Mo...

Day 11: The Second Trim

Well two shaves down and we're approaching the half way mark. As you may have noticed I'm going for the "Paul Senior" look, and feel I could now pass as an extra in Smokey and The Bandit.

Though I think I have a way to go yet if I am to surpass the mighty Mo of Burt Reynolds.

Day 4: Gone Bush

Deperate to avoid the temptation of the dreaded blade I have escaped to the hills on a shiney new mountain bike. Not quite Grizzly Adams in the Rockys, but somewhere on the Queen Charlotte Walkway in Marlborough.

The Moventure Begins

Day 0: As required the razor has been out and a cleanish shave executed. I now have 29 sleeps to go!

What is the storey?

Welcome to the Mo Incident. In no way to be confused with G & R's last album, this is my first foray into the world of blogging which I thought I'd use to keep you all up to date on the progress of my Movember moustache.

What's it all about then? The following has been pilfered from the official Movember website to fill you in. For more details visit http://www.movember.com/.

At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants known as Mo Bros then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache and along the way raise as much money and awareness about male health issues as possible.

So why the extreme behaviour?Which ever way we look at it, men are far less healthy than women. The average life expectancy of a man in New Zealand is 4 years less than a woman.
The obvious question is why?

The answer is because men lack awareness about the very real health issue they face, have an attitude of "she'll be right" and are reluctant to see a doctor about an illness or to go for regular medical checks. The aim of Movember is to change these attitudes, make male health fun by putting the Mo back on the face of New Zealand men and in the process raise some serious funds for the number one male health issue, prostate cancer.

Every year in New Zealand 2,656 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 600 die of the disease, making prostate cancer the second largest cause of male cancer deaths, after lung cancer.

Movember is very proud to be partnering with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand http://www.prostate.org.nz/.

All donations are made directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand who will use the funds to create awareness, increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer, fund research and scholarship programs.
